The Board of Directors congratulates you on your willingness to accept the important responsibility of serving as a volunteer coach. We are confident you will find it to be an immensely rewarding experience.
Applicants for coaching positions must complete the following requirements:
- Complete the LHYSA FALL 2011 Registration Page–Coaches online.
- Register for Kidsafe background check. Kidsafe approval is valid for two years.
- Participate in a brief interview with members of the LHYSA Board of Directors, to be scheduled upon receipt of Coaching Application.
- Learn the LHYSA Coaching Manual and submit form indicating applicant’s willingness to comply with LHYSA coaching policies.
- Attend mandatory Coaching Orientation at a time and date to be announced. All coaches and assistant coaches MUST attend.
Once accepted onto our coaching staff, our goal is to provide the tools and information needed to help parent volunteers be successfull.
LHYSA has adopted FIFA’s Laws of the Game as the basis for all play. Coaches are expected to learn the rules of the game, and can start by reading the section in the LHYSA Coaching Manual entitled “Mechanics of the Game.” Also read the Small-sided Games Manual, a guide to the rules as modified for young players.
Coaches are encouraged to seek additional information and instructional tools to assist you in planning practice sessions and developing game strategy. Below are some LHYSA recommended links to online resources.
